The BYD Song PLUS DM-i dominated exports with 113,361 units in the first five months. Following closely, the BYD Seagull recorded 45,238 units, while the BYD Sealion 07 reached 38,572 units. Familiar names like the Yuan PLUS, Song Pro DM-i, and BYD Dolphin also held strong positions.
From a fuel mix perspective, pure electric models now represent 53% of BYD’s exports, while plug-in hybrids account for 47%. This balance highlights BYD’s ability to meet diverse market demands.
Notably, plug-in hybrids like the Song PLUS DM-i and Song Pro DM-i remain strong in regions with limited charging infrastructure. Meanwhile, EV models such as the Seagull, Sealion 07, Yuan PLUS, and Dolphin precisely target urban and family needs.
Therefore, BYD’s dual approach enables it to win markets quickly while preparing for full electrification. However, balancing local energy structures and customer habits will be the next challenge.
Between January and May 2025, BYD exported over 210,000 EVs. Mexico and Brazil were the top destinations, with 52,018 and 50,744 units respectively. Together, Belgium, Turkey, and the UK contributed over 90,000 units in Europe.
Regionally, Asia leads with 36%, followed by Europe at 27%. South America and North America account for 17% and 15%. In contrast, Oceania and Africa are still emerging markets.
